To access a server, so-called Client Access Licenses (CALs) must be purchased. CALs are not standalone software but access rights. A distinction is made between User CALs (= Nutzer CALs) and Device CALs (= Geräte CALs). Which of the two is required essentially depends on the way the server is used.
